"Dragon Flight" by Sunnyone |
In great medieval morning sky, he flies on wings of fire... While deep within his armoured soul, there hides unknown desire... His strength is known by all, and feared by those who prey at night... A dragon such as he, could make the fiercest run from sight... Upon a typical morning, flying over the Kingdom's lair... He spotted, by the forest stream, a maid so lovely and fair... His sight could prove an eagle blind, and as he flew above... Her angel face looked up and smiled...the dragon fell in love... The maiden had been stolen from her parents as a babe... And to an evil witch she had become a virtual slave... From whence she came nobody knew, the witch kept her under a spell... The townsfolk feared the wicked shrew...her power was known too well... That morning the maid was told to fetch some water from the stream... And as she gazed into the pool, she saw the most wonderful thing... A golden beast with wings of fire was gliding in the sky... His beauty touched her heart, and then a tear slipped from her eye... The weeks went by, the maiden took her trips to the forest brook... She saw the dragon flying...but never a closer look... And then one morning she could feel the magic alive in the air... She turned to face two golden eyes, and felt all the love in his stare... What does a maiden do when fate puts a dragon in her path? Especially one so handsome as he, and known to be quick to wrath... So, carefully she took a step, not sure what the next one would bring... And then she calmed her silent fears and opened her heart to sing... 'Twas a gentle lullabye he'd heard so many years before... A song that only dragons knew from ancient dragon lore... On closer look, he saw her eyes were golden like his own... And then he remembered how long ago, a Princess was stolen from home! A dragon Princess, just a babe, had been the witch's prize... A stolen dragon, turned into maid, held onto her golden eyes... And now the Dragon Prince knew well that fate had a plan in store... And soon he hoped that he would be alone in the sky nevermore... The maiden saw the dragon bow, and she touched him with a kiss... Electric sparks ran through her, along with a feeling of purest bliss... Where arms had been, were wings of fire...she felt herself rise to the sky... Together in the golden dawn, the Prince taught the Princess to fly... If you're ever watching as the night greets the dawning day... You may be granted the wondrous sight of the Prince and the Princess, at play... Their golden wings will briefly touch as they come within your stare... And then you will know there's more of truth, than myth, in this dragon folk-lair... |
