Within the Walls

Within the walls a dragon lies in wait
Disguised in smiles, it stalks
it's prey,
and uses love as bait...
A fortress built up all around,
devoid of unlocked door...
And once inside, you leave it...
Nevermore...

The walls close in within the years
that pass...
There comes a point in time when
realization hits at last...
The one that fate brought you
to mate,
has fooled you with disguise...
And now the truth has vanished,
in the lies...

Within the walls there beats a
lonely heart...
Connected to an aching soul,
from which it can't depart...
Looking out upon the world from
eyes devoid of tears...
Within the walls.
they watch...
the passing years...
